Iliff Residence Pacific Palisades, CA

We like to call this house a Contemporary Craftsman, utilizing modern materials in a Craftsman format. In a neighborhood of more traditional architecture we created a modern building that blends in with it’s surroundings. We used a mixed palette of Craftsman materials including cedar siding, variegated stone siding and smooth plaster. Wood beams and posts were used on the exterior and interior as was typical during the Craftsman era. The entry stair was crafted out of wood with classic “turn of the century” detailing, yet maintains clean contemporary lines. Slate flooring was brought inside the house from the front and rear porches and red oak flooring runs throughout the home.

The kitchen is bright and open with multiple windows and high glass transoms. The Cherry cabinets are classic Craftsman with modern pulls and rose colored granite. Transoms are used throughout the house over most doors and windows complimenting the high ceilings and bringing natural light into all rooms. The house has four bedrooms and three and a half baths, with a master suite featuring sloped wood ceilings, a large balcony overlooking the Santa Monica Mountains and a master bath of limestone, glass tile and lacquered white cabinets.
